This week, Katelyn Scott and I have an open, and honest conversation about the postpartum period and parenting. Things like sex after baby, postpartum anxiety, and the importance of having support as a new parent. These topics aren't talked about enough, and in turn, can leave some new parents feeling alone or ashamed to share their true feelings. Our hope in sharing our own stories, is to open up conversation about the REAL stories of parenting.
Katelyn Scott is a Canadian, military wife and military member herself. Raising two children together with her husband, a 2 year old and an 8 month old. Motherhood took her completely by surprise and consumed her. She struggled with postpartum depression after the birth of her first baby, and postpartum rage after the birth of her second. She experienced two different, yet very similar births. She has both breastfed and formula fed her babies, bed-shared, co-slept, and tried all the sleep training. At this point, she feels that her personal knowledge and experience as a mom can truly help others. That being said, everyday is a challenge and there are always new surprises! After having her own children, she realized that social media gave her false expectations about what being a parent is really like. This lead her to create her own instagram page to share her own story and the real life stories and experiences of other parents. Her goal is to share stories and real life experiences with parents-to-be and current parents so they have realistic expectations and don't feel alone.
